National Seminar on Gandhian Educational thoughts and NEP 2020
The event, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF), Kerala Chapter, and the Social Science Department, started at 10:00 AM. The program brought together thought leaders and experts to discuss the integration of Mahatma Gandhi's Nai Talim (Basic Education) concept with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr. M.S. Geetha, Chairperson of CTEF, Dr. Sundaresan, Former Director of the State Resource Centre, and Mrs. Ajith Venniyoor, Former Secretary of the Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi. Each speaker provided valuable insights into the relevance of Nai Talim in today's educational landscape.
Dr. Geetha highlighted the foundational principles of Gandhi's Nai Talim and how these ideals are reflected in the NEP 2020. She emphasized the importance of holistic education, which blends academic learning with practical life skills, promoting self-reliance and moral development. Dr. Sundaresan delved deeper into the significance of life skill education, stressing that education should prepare individuals not just for careers but for life itself. Mr. Venniyoor added a global perspective, shedding light on Gandhi's enduring influence worldwide and how his educational philosophies resonate across cultures.
The program concluded at 1:30 PM, leaving attendees with a renewed understanding of the importance of integrating Gandhian principles into modern education and the vital role of life skills in shaping responsible citizens.
